Holly and Barney's story
Christmas is a time for families to create magical memories together. But last year, Holly and her son Barney were in the midst of a difficult journey with Barney’s bladder condition.
Holly said: "The feeling of being a useless parent was at the forefront of my mind at Christmas."
Sadly, daily toileting accidents made life difficult – and they didn’t stop for Christmas. Festive days out and sleepovers at friends’ and family’s houses meant practical problems and stress.
Barney said: "It felt harder because I was embarrassed at always being soggy or smelly at other people’s houses.
"Mum said that the information she found through ERIC helped her to realise that I wasn’t the only child who had wee problems. It’s made her less scared, I think."
"The support I've received from ERIC has made me feel less alone. It was so alienating going through tests and days off work. It was totally exhausting and I felt like I had nowhere to turn. ERIC made the difference."
