Kim has been affiliated with the University of Bristol for the past 14 years, starting off as a lab technician and now as a researcher. Her background has been diverse but anchored to applying various statistical methods to the “omics” space. Examples include applying “big data” (genetic, epigenetic, metabolomics) to research questions involving; respiratory outcomes, cancer, fetal growth, and BMI.

For the past year Kim has been fortunate to work under the leadership of Prof. Carol Joinson on her MRC grant exploring the relationships between mental health and incontinence in both children and adults. Specifically, Kim is able to apply her previous experience to interrogate the biological and psychosocial mechanisms that explain the relationships between adversity/stress and later LUTS in children, as well as casual inference into the bidirectional relationships between mental health and incontinence in adults.
