is when one or both ureters (the tubes from the kidneys to the bladder) are
brought to the abdominal wall. A cystostomy, also called a vesicostomy, is when the bladder
opens directly onto the lower abdominal wall. The urine is collected into either a bag
attached to the abdominal wall or a disposable pad. In these cases, the bag will need to be
emptied or the pad changed as frequently as necessary during the school day
