No child should feel ashamed of their wee and poo problems
ERIC is the UK’s only bowel and bladder charity dedicated to supporting children and young people’s bowel and bladder health.
Our vision is for all children and young people everywhere to enjoy good bowel and bladder health.
Nobody should feel ashamed or embarrassed to seek support – that’s why our free, confidential Helpline and online services exist – to give every family the opportunity to share their burden and get expert advice.
Meet Jake
Many of the children and young people we help here at ERIC inspire us every day. We hear stories of bravery through painful tummy problems, embarrassing childhood experiences and even life-changing bladder and bowel surgery.
Meet one of these young people: Jake (now 15) has suffered with bowel problems since birth. Long hospital stays meant he missed childhood experiences and struggled in school. ERIC helped his family throughout their journey to ileostomy surgery, and beyond. He’s now using his experiences to help others. Jake is sports mad, so over the summer we arranged for him to meet with former England Rugby Captain Lewis Moody - who has shared his experiences of a bowel problem, ulcerative colitis - to create a special film for ERIC.
Why make a donation?
- 1.5 million children in the UK live with a bowel or bladder condition (that’s 1 in 9).
- For many, it’s a secret that weighs heavily on them, and the shame and stigma prevent them from talking about it or seeking help.
- That’s why we need your support.
- Your donation could help fund a Helpline call for a child whose family is struggling to manage their condition or pay for online resources that help their parents and carers understand their condition better. It could also pay for our Family Services, as we collaborate with local authorities, schools, and healthcare professionals to ensure that families receive the most useful information and advice to manage their child’s condition.
- Donate today and help a child suffering with bowel or bladder issues to feel less isolated and get the support they need.
