Corporate fundraising

a group of office workers fundraising at christmas time

ERIC wouldn't exist without the generosity of people and businesses who donate time and money to ensure we can continue to support families.

Helping a child overcome bowel and bladder issues takes hard work and determination. This is what the ERIC team helps families with every day. It’s also something we witness from our amazing corporate fundraisers who take the time and effort to raise funds for ERIC.

Many of the children and young people we help here at ERIC inspire us every day. We hear stories of bravery through painful tummy problems, embarrassing childhood experiences and even life-changing bladder and bowel surgery.

Meet one of these young people: Jake (now 15) has suffered with bowel problems since birth. Long hospital stays meant he missed childhood experiences and struggled in school. ERIC helped his family throughout their journey to ileostomy surgery, and beyond. He’s now using his experiences to help others. Jake is sports mad, so over the summer we arranged for him to meet with former England Rugby Captain Lewis Moody - who has shared his experiences of bowel problem, ulcerative colitis - to create a special film for ERIC.

With Lewis and Jake behind us, we're aiming to raise funds this Christmas to pay for additional resources for children with complex bowel and bladder conditions and to support our Family Services offering, which provides expert advice, information and emotional support to families.

Sports themed fundraisers

We'd love for our corporate supporters to back our campaign by hosting a fundraiser of your own this Christmas - bonus points if it's rugby or sports themed to tie in with our appeal! Here are just a few ideas for things you could do to raise money:

  • Fantasy rugby sweepstake
  • Wear your team top to work day
  • Rugby or sports themed quiz
  • Touch-rugby five-a-side tournament

Whatever you do, do it for ERIC, The Children's Bowel & Bladder Charity and for young people like Jake, who need our support.

Why fundraise for us?

One in nine children in the UK is living with a bowel or bladder condition.

Our helpline supports thousands of families each year, many of whom have been suffering in silence for a long time, because of the stigma and shame associated with these conditions.

We rely on the generosity of our supporters to make this happen – heroic people like you.

The money you raise will help us do so much for families:

  • £25 can help fund online resources to support families with their child’s continence issue
  • £40 could pay for a continence expert to provide 30 minutes’ telephone support to a parent who needs us
  • £100 could enable us to deliver a webinar for families to get support in managing the daily challenges of their child’s condition

By turning your passion into pounds, you’re making a difference to these children and their families. Now it’s time to start planning!

How do I get started?

Start planning your fundraising now – whether that’s a sponsored run, walk, or cycle, a bake sale, or a challenge you want to take on.

Once you’ve collected your sponsorship money, pay it in online.

Other fundraising ideas

There are lots of ways you could help us reach our target, such as:

  • Office bake sale
  • Sponsored static bike rides
  • Workplace danceathon
  • Sponsored walk

The sky’s the limit when it comes to ideas, so get creative!

Make your money go even further

Match funding

If you've raised funds for ERIC, ask your employer if they have a match funding scheme. Many companies offer employees the chance to boost their charitable fundraising efforts by 'matching' the money they raise. Talk to your employer or click here to find out more.

Gift Aid

Gift Aid makes donations to ERIC worth substantially more by allowing us to claim 25p from the government for every £1 donated, at no extra cost to you or your supporters. Gift Aid can be applied to any donation from a UK tax payer, as long as the amount claimed is no more than the tax paid that financial year.

When collecting donations or sponsorship, make sure you ask whether the supporter would like Gift Aid applied. All we need to claim Gift Aid back is their full name and home address with postcode.
