Talking about disimpaction – parent / carer event

21st March 2024 • 19.00 - 20.30 • via Zoom

If your child has been assessed by a GP and constipation has been diagnosed, your GP may recommend that you complete a Disimpaction (clearing out the old poo) using macrogol laxatives.

This webinar is for parents and carers who want to know more information about doing a disimpaction and understanding more about what to expect.

With the Easter holidays fast approaching, many families use this time to do a disimpaction.

Understanding the process and preparing the medication can be a stumbling block for some parents.

The Helpline team will be discussing:

  • how the process works
  • how to prepare the medication correctly
  • tips on disguising the taste for children

We will explain what to expect during the process and how to find the correct maintenance dose afterwards.

All the information our team provides is based on guidelines produced by NICE – the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.

Our advisors cannot diagnose or give medical advice. Seek advice from your GP or other healthcare provider as needed.

PLEASE NOTE: this free event is for parents and carers. If you are a health professional, please see our  programme of training courses here.
